The Gardening Project

31/10/2025

I've been thinking about starting a vegetable garden for a long time, but I never had the time, money, or motivation to do it. Anyone who has one knows how therapeutic it is to lose track of time with your hands in the soil. Besides, it has the added benefit of helping us eat better, with what the earth gives us. I have to admit, I know nothing about it, but lately I've been reading about gardening in my free time.

Recently, I forced myself to dress properly, put on some rubber boots, and get to work. As I often say, I've already lived more years than I have left ahead of me, so I don't want to leave anything unsaid or undone. I'd love for you, the reader, to subscribe to my channel, it really helps keep me motivated. Right now, I have 38 subscribers, one of whom is probably my mother. Thank you all for your interest and support. It truly keeps me going).

Every week, I dedicate an entire afternoon to this, though it's been raining a lot lately and will continue to for the next few days. This is one type of video and article I make, among others like my car tours and hiking videos, three fundamental pillars of my project and channel. I do all this for my own mental health and because I genuinely love communication and videography.

The garden, the morning walks, the gym, the car tours, and the motorbike adventures all help me stay balanced mentally. They're healthy habits. At the same time, I also want to showcase what this region has to offer and why it deserves a visit, for a solo escape or a weekend getaway for two.

By the way, I use two cameras: the DJI Pocket 3 (Creator Combo) and the DJI Osmo Action 4, which give me almost cinematic image quality , exactly what I'm aiming for. I don't want it to be "cinema," of course, but I do want to deliver good entertainment with great video quality.

When we're gardening, the mind doesn't wander; we're more in touch with nature, at least that's how I feel. I have that little corner that's mine alone, almost like a sanctuary. I go there to work, sometimes with Ralf's help, but when I'm alone, I feel like I'm in another dimension. It's good for both the body and the mind.

First, I lost my father in my own hands. Then, my dog, and that shattered me. It hasn't been easy. I'm human, and I'm still healing. But this idea couldn't have come at a better time. The short, rainy days are starting, and I take advantage of them to write indoors, with a strong cup of coffee and the sound of rain falling outside.

As I said, I don't know much about gardening yet, but I'm learning. Everyone starts from zero — no one's better or worse than anyone else — but learning is essential. I also have very few tools. I recently bought a chainsaw to cut a tree that fell during a storm a few months ago. There are still a few things I need to buy over time.

I'll start by planting coriander, parsley, thyme, and mint, and later move on to other vegetables like onions, cabbages, lettuce, and sweet potatoes. If anyone out there knows about horticulture, please share your tips in the comments, on the blog, or even by email, if you want and can, of course.

The little gate's wood is rotten, so I'll need to take proper measurements, buy new boards and nails, and fix it. There's a lot of work ahead, this was just an introductory post about my garden.

The idea itself came out of nowhere. Ever since I gained a new kind of awareness, I've been increasingly drawn to the Arts,  not just writing, but also painting and pottery. I don't quite understand why it happened, but I feel free, light, and introspective whenever I dedicate myself to them. That's what art is: raw, bare, and honest,  though always a little rebellious.

I'm not exactly a famous or talented artist, but I am a human being who's been pulled toward hobbies like gardening, painting (as I mentioned), and even music. I want to make the most of the time I have left on this planet doing what I love, even if that means trying new things. Why not?

The garden was something I had vaguely planned to start "someday." Pottery, on the other hand, fascinates me; I don't know why it does, but it does. Making pots and mugs isn't really my thing (at least not yet), but I'll give it a try. I'm even planning to build a small shed to store the tools and equipment.

If you haven't yet subscribed to my YouTube channel, there's still time. You can follow this entire process, from a tiny vegetable garden to something that, with persistence and hard work, can truly grow into more. Rainy days won't stop me, unless it's an absolute downpour. Just like my motorbike rides: even if it's raining, the bike still goes.

Thanks again! See you on the next video.
